Q&A - Interview

How do you prepare yourself for the new season?

Go check on last years spots to see if our fish are still there.

Do you do anything special to your fishing equipment?

I just make sure everything is in tip-top shape. I'll break things down if I need to and change my line.

What is your favorite lure?

Rapala redfish skitterwalk

If you could pick one thing that sets you apart from the rest in the tournament scene, What would that be?

Dedication and commitment come to mind, but all the guys and girls I fish against have that. So....I'm going to have to say, being able to adapt and adjust to conditions.

What's one thing you have to have on your boat during tournament day?

Besides my fishing partner, Sunscreen is very important.

The real deal

Sponsors and anglers need each other.  Anglers add legitimacy to products. They put a face with a name.  They introduce new products on the tour. Anglers promote to other anglers.  Tournament fishermen are in the spotlight, even when they are practicing.  Spectators and fans notice whom their favorite angler supports.  Few things catch someone's eye quicker than a giant redfish rig rolling down the highway.  Those same rigs can carry a message from sponsors.  Put it this way, advertising money spent on billboards will reach thousands. That same amount invested into a fishing sponsorship will be mobile and affect thousands.  The message is carried personally to the public. That is in fact what we do.

We have television opportunities and exposure. Catch the Texas Saltwater Series TV Show Wednesday mornings at 6:00 AM on FSN Southwest.  This new show will focus on fishing the Texas coast for redfish, trout and other species.  The Texas Redfish Series and Texas Trout Series highlights will be featured on the show as well.  Tune in every Wednesday morning from October through March for exciting action from Texas anglers.
