What inspires you to compete?

I want to be the best in the world. 2008 I got the Silver Medal @ the World Championships. This year I want Gold.

Why do you compete?

I compete for my family and students. I love to get the crowd fired up. For me the best feeling in the world is to win a medal and give it to my mom to wear. She has been my biggest supporter. She was the one driving us kids all over to our wrestling tournaments when I was a kid. She loves what I do and has really been a driving force pushing me to do my best, and she has been there with open arms when i suffer defeat. Presenting her with my medals is my lil' way of saying thank you to her.

Describe your style...

Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have been wrestling for 17 years. I was Head Coach for Newbury Park High School. I left in order to pursue my BJJ career. I took my first BJJ class in 1995 at the Gracie Academy. I then trained under Greg Jackson for 1 year in New Mexico while in the Air Force. Wen I got out I trained under Jean Jeaque Machado and Renato Magno at Machado BJJ for 1 year. In 2000, I followed Renato and my brother Kenny to Street Sports BJJ in Santa Monica. Renato Magno's Street Sports BJJ is where I earned all of my BJJ Belts Blue through Black . All of my championships have been under Renato. In 2007 I began to bounce around BJJ Schools to get some more training. I trained and taught @ Elite MMA under Ed Keller, Gracie Barra Santa Barbara and Solvang under Rodrigo Clark, Simi Valley BJJ under Dion Watts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club under Chris Liscandro. I am now heading up Elite MMA's BJJ Program.

How's Life Treating You?
